Therma-Tru Doors Meet Industry’s Toughest Wind Codes
Severe wind is a serious concern no matter where you live. That’s why Therma-Tru’s Advanced Technology Center works to improve the wind protection performance of our doors. We have testing units that duplicate hurricane winds and other conditions. As an example of the center’s work, the Classic-Craft® line has a design pressure rating as high as DP-100. The DP rating is a measure of the level of wind force a door system can withstand without failing.
Meeting Strict Florida Codes
Following the destruction from Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the state of Florida adopted some of the toughest U.S. building codes. Most of Therma-Tru’s Classic-Craft, Fiber-Classic® and Smooth-Star® fiberglass door systems have been tested and approved for coastal use in Florida. This includes configured door systems with one sidelite, two sidelites and double doors. All Fiber-Classic and Smooth-Star product approvals require the use of 'J' part number door slabs. To learn which specific Therma-Tru products have Florida and Miami-Dade County building code approvals, visit the
Building Codes section within the Trade Professionals portion of our website.
