WHY IT PAYS TO BE GREEN
Therma-Tru Helps Homeowners Qualify for Tax Credit Up To $1,500 for Energy Efficient Entry Doors
Maumee, OHIO, (March 31, 2009) ― Now more than ever, homeowners expect a lot from the remodeling projects they invest in. They want beautiful results to increase the value of their homes while making every dollar they invest stretch further. This is especially true when it comes to selecting an entry or patio door for their home.
As the nation’s leading manufacturer of entry doors and the most preferred brand among builders and remodelers, Therma-Tru Doors can help homeowners create curb appeal that lasts and minimize energy bills with the purchase of entry and patio doors that qualify for a new tax incentive.
On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that provides tax incentives for homeowners to make energy-efficient home improvements. As part of this Economic Stimulus package, homeowners are eligible to receive a tax credit equal to 30 percent of the product cost — up to $1,500 per household for all improvements combined — when they purchase and install qualified products now through 2010.
“During these challenging economic times, homeowners are thinking twice about making springtime home improvements,” said Dave Randich, president of Therma-Tru. “But not only may homeowners be eligible for a significant tax credit, replacing entry doors can help save them money on energy bills over time. It’s a win-win situation.”
Therma-Tru is pleased to offer consumers a variety of energy-efficient products that qualify for this federal tax credit. In fact, most Therma-Tru entry and patio doors do qualify by having a U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 or lower, which measures a product’s energy efficiency. To be eligible for the energy tax credit, qualified products must be purchased and installed in the taxpayer’s principal residence now through 2010.
Homeowners are encouraged to save the sales receipt and the Manufacturer Certification Statement, which can be found on Therma-Tru’s Web site, for tax record keeping purposes. The tax credit must be claimed for the year the qualified product was purchased and installed. *
