Expanded Low-E Glass Offering Meets Energy-Saving Needs of Today’s Consumers

Maumee, OHIO, (January 15, 2010) - Therma-Tru is making Low-E glass standard on a large selection of its clear glass door products. The company's Classic-Craft® fiberglass entry doors will now feature Low-E glass as a standard feature in all non-decorative glass applications. In addition, Therma-Tru Fiber-Classic® and Smooth-Star® doors will feature Low-E glass as an available option in most non-decorative glass sizes. The new glass offering provides homeowners with a wide selection of energy-efficient doors to choose from.

"As Low-E glass becomes the standard in the marketplace, Therma-Tru glass products can be used to complement replacement window packages to meet consumers' demand for energy efficiency," says Larry Jones, product manager for Therma-Tru Doors. "Now, if a homeowner is installing Low-E windows, we can offer an on-trend door style with Low-E glass to complement the home's overall aesthetics."

Low-E glass is more energy efficient than standard clear glass. It helps keep warm air inside during the winter months and helps prevent cool air from escaping in the summer months. When used in a fiberglass door, Low-E glass can help homeowners achieve superior energy efficiency. Fiberglass doors are five times more energy efficient than solid wood doors, which have little interior insulation. All of Therma-Tru's Low-E glass meets ENERGY STAR criteria.

Not only do homeowners save on energy costs with Therma-Tru doors, but now they can get up to $1,500 cash back through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. As part of the economic stimulus package, homeowners are eligible for a 30 percent tax credit on qualifying products used for energy-efficient home improvements made throughout 2009 and 2010. (NOTE: The tax credit is NOT available for new construction buyers.) For more information, visit
