STUNNING DOOR GLASS OPTIONS
Maumee, OHIO, (June 6, 2012) - From the sedate swirls of BellaTM to the breathtaking geometric design of AshurstTM, Therma-Tru® doorlite and sidelite options add pizzazz and style to the entryway of any home. Whether chosen for their advanced privacy features or to maximize the flow of light into the home, door glass selection plays a major role in the design of entryways across America.
“The beauty of glass inspires homeowners to extend their personal styles to their entryways” says Donna Contat, senior product manager for Therma-Tru Corp. “Right now we’re seeing people embrace Craftsman-style glass packages and traditional designs that blend both color and style in an attractive doorlite or sidelite. Colors in glass, along with a variety of textures and caming options, provide choices for everyone selecting new doors.”
Therma-Tru offers one of the broadest glass assortments of any door company in the United States, with 31 decorative glass designs, four privacy glass families and five standard designs in Impact-rated glass. “The majority of all our glass products are assembled in North America at our top-quality facilities,” says Contat. “Development of new glass designs is an ever-evolving process. We rely on robust research processes to continually design and test new glass products that we believe will match up with the styles that homeowners desire.”
Designed to add beauty and inspiration to the home, decorative glass options from Therma-Tru are engineered and tested to work with Therma-Tru entryway systems. Each decorative glass piece is sandwiched between tempered glass for safety and security. This triple-pane glass assembly provides homeowners with peace-of-mind and aesthetic appeal that’s backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
Decorative glass options can come with frosted, opaque or jewel-like glass to provide style and privacy in the home. For people wishing to add color to the entryway, a variety of options exist. Sedona Art glass comes with dark red glass that complements beveled and bubbled glass in a Craftsman style design. Savannah™ glass features emerald green leaves and a pale amber flower on iridescent water glass. And, the popular Avonlea® glass design features clear baroque glass with fluid lines in a free-flowing leaf pattern accented with bronze water glass and black nickel caming.
“Homeowners put their thumbprint of personality on a home with the decorative glass options they select,” says Contat. “Some designs, like the Augustine® and Salinas®, feature free-flowing wrought iron and are a timeless accent to a home. Other styles, such as HazletonTM and VillagerTM glass designs, are more geometric in nature and complement a Craftsman style home.
“One of the best things about our diverse glass selection is that we have designs for every part of the nation. We understand that style and taste are guided by regional preferences, and Therma-Tru has created glass options that perform flawlessly whether you’re in New York or Oregon. Our ongoing market research identifies trends in home styling across the country so that we’re continually introducing exciting new glass options.”
Available as an option in virtually every Therma-Tru door collection, the four privacy glass families from Therma-Tru offer natural light and privacy to any home. The best-in-class assortment of textured Chord, Chinchilla, Rainglass and Granite glass designs can be requested for both doorlites and sidelites.
- Chord glass features a vertical, flowing pattern reminiscent of waves on the water.
- Chinchilla glass resembles a free-flowing configuration, presenting quiet lines and unique curves.
- Rainglass evokes ripples of cascading water in an elegantly-fashioned glass.
- Granite glass features a coarse grained arrangement with surface variations over the entire piece of glass.
Unique to Therma-Tru, each privacy glass panel is triple-paned and may be ENERGY STAR® qualified for energy efficiency. The textured glass is sealed between tempered, clear glass sheets to provide reduced heat transfer, increased thermal performance and improved sound-dampening features within a reliably-constructed frame.
Grille patterns, either on the interior or exterior of the glass, can add significantly to the look of a door. Therma-Tru offers grilles in Colonial, Prairie and Craftsman styles. When in place, these thin grille pieces give the glass insert a patterned multi-pane look that can be selected to complement the windows on a home.
Therma-Tru offers five standard designs in Impact-rated glass (with 10 additional glass options available in Florida) with the company’s Lip-Lite frame, which is a beautifully designed, scrolled frame. Developed to withstand severe weather and flying debris impact during a storm, Impact-rated glass from Therma-Tru can also provide a Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of 36, when installed in a noise reduction door, to reduce the transfer of noise into the home. These full-lite glass options offer added security from forced entry with laminated glass. The impressive door glass comes in clear glass or with grilles.
Clear and Low-E Glass
Sometimes a door style calls for simple, clear glass to maximize the flow of light into the home. For these occasions, Therma-Tru offers insulated clear glass doorlites that are tempered and double-pane. Another option available is a clear Low-E glass which has been factory-coated with a thin layer of nearly invisible material that acts to absorb and reflect heat and light energy.
