EXTERIOR DOOR SOLUTIONS
Therma-Tru's Popular Slim-Line Sliding Patio Door System
Now Available with Impact-Resistant Glass that can Withstand Hurricane Conditions
MAUMEE, OH (September 15, 2005) – The country has watched in awe over the past few weeks as Hurricane Katrina struck and the aftermath it has left behind. As floodwaters from Katrina recede, builders and remodelers will be seeking building materials that can help them prevent damage from extreme weather in the future. Therma-Tru® Slim-Line Patio Door Systems offer this protection by withstanding high winds, coastal storms and windborne debris.
Therma-Tru is introducing Impact Rated Glass for its Slim-Line Patio Door Systems, which feature laminated glass that has been subjected to rigorous missile impact testing and can withstand hurricane conditions. The new glass has a DP-50 water, structural and windborne debris rating on units up to 8'tall and 9'wide. This rating assures the unit can structurally withstand 171 mph winds, water penetration of 8" of rain per hour driven by 54 mph winds and air infiltration equal to 25 mph winds.
"Builders are always looking for new materials that are resistant to extreme weather conditions," said Jim Sulier, Product Manager, Therma-Tru Patio Door Systems. "Therma-Tru's Slim-Line Patio Door Systems are constructed with durability – and beauty – in mind. The high-performance framing and glass systems will hold up to strong weather conditions and high-traffic and also let in light and outdoor beauty."
The Slim-Line door system combines the durability of fiberglass with exceptional thermal performance and an advanced trouble-free track system. This reduces callbacks and delivers lasting performance for homeowners. The tempered Low-E glass and double weather-stripping provide comfort and energy efficiency. The high-performance fiberglass frame, available in White, Almond, Stone and Bronze, features fiberglass pultruded lineals that won't warp, crack, rot, swell or split.
Like all Therma-Tru offerings, the Slim-Line door system provides integrated components and hardware designed and manufactured to work together more effectively than individual components. High-quality tamper-proof hardware is available in a brass, white, brushed nickel or oil-rubbed bronze finish. The Slim-Line door system is backed by a 20-year limited warranty.
